Original Question:

Not a strictly true ArcView question but then again it involves connecting
a HP Jornada 720 hand-held PC with ArcPad via ActiveSync to my desk top. I
wish to download shp files created via ArcPad and a Garmin Emap gps unit. I
can get a connection from the desk top to the Jornada as a guest (most of
the time). BUT can not see any of the files on the Jornada. On an earlier
test installation all worked well. We then bought the Jornada, ArcPad and
the Garmin emap unit. With the new gear connection is intermittent at best
and have yet to be able to transfer any files to the desk-top. The EXPLORE
window on the PC is blank.

We have uninstalled and reinstalled ArcPad and Active Sync. The baud rates
are identical on both.

ANSWER -- SOLUTION

Turns out the problem was with the HP Jornada 720. Solution was to remove
the rechargeable battery AND the backup battery, wait a few minutes,
re-install batteries, re-install ArcPad, reaquire data, and all works fine.
The downside is when backup battery is removed all data is lost!
